Experience the eventful history of a small town by a great river, in the flair of a 19th century upper-middle class house. Over four floors of this lovingly restored former winery, life by the river Rhine is portrayed in an interesting and exciting manner. Many themes from Oberwesel’s past are recurring themes in the history of the upper Middle Rhine region, which is a UNESCO world heritage. Prehistoric rarities, the town’s heyday during the Middle Ages, the quixotic era of Rhine romance, the hard lives of the shippers, and much more comes to life here. A live camera, the museum cinema, a virtual “journey through time” through the Middle Rhine valley and a virtual guided tour of the town bring history to life.
